Experienced Housekeeper
The Gallivant, Camber Sands
Pay: £13.00–£15.00 per hour, dependent on experience and responsibility
Job Types: Full-time and Part-time, Permanent
The Gallivant is a boutique hotel by the sea at Camber Sands, home to Harry’s restaurant. We are known for consistency, quality, and warm but professional hospitality, and we look after guests from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave.
The Gallivant operates year-round across accommodation, restaurant service, weddings, and private events. With a second site opening next year, we are building a team of hospitality professionals who are comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-moving environment and who take pride in high standards.
The role
We are looking for experienced housekeepers who understand the importance of detail, organisation, pace, and consistency within a quality hotel operation.
Housekeeping plays a central role in the guest experience at The Gallivant. Our standards matter, and every room and guest area must be presented to a consistently high level every day.
The hotel runs across breakfast, lunch, dinner, weddings, and events, and housekeeping works closely with the wider hotel team to keep the operation running smoothly during busy periods. The role requires flexibility, teamwork, professionalism, and the ability to maintain standards under pressure.
Hospitality is demanding, but rewarding for people who enjoy pace, responsibility, and being part of a well-run operation. The work schedules includes weekends, evenings, public holidays, Christmas, and New Year.
We are looking for people with previous housekeeping experience who can work independently, understand standards, and contribute positively to the wider team.
What we’re looking for
You will be a good fit if you:
Have previous housekeeping experience within hotels, hospitality, or high-standard accommodation
Work efficiently without compromising standards or attention to detail
Take pride in cleanliness, presentation, and organisation
Are reliable, self-motivated, and consistent
Can work well independently and as part of a wider team
Are comfortable working busy weekends and seasonal periods
Understand the importance of guest experience and professional standards
Supervisory experience is welcome but not required. Strong performance, reliability, and leadership are recognised, and additional responsibility is offered as the business grows.
Progression
The Gallivant is expanding, with a second site planned for next year. This creates genuine progression opportunities for people who consistently perform well and want to grow within the business, including senior housekeeping and supervisory roles.
What we offer
Competitive hourly pay, dependent on experience and responsibility
A professional, well-run working environment with clear standards
Progression opportunities within a growing group
Great food at lunch and dinner
Team discounts on rooms, food and drink (subject to eligibility)
Cycle to Work scheme (eligibility dependent on hours)
