Forklift Truck Operator – B2 & C1
Location: Hedon Road, Hull
Division: We Are Gateway – Modular Division
Hours: Monday to Thursday 7am - 3.30pm; Friday 7am - 2.30pm
We Are Gateway is expanding, and we are looking for a highly capable and safety-conscious Forklift Truck Operator to join our Modular Division at our new site on Hedon Road.
This is not a standard warehouse forklift role. You will be responsible for safely moving large, heavy steel structures and materials around a busy manufacturing site. We therefore need an experienced operator who is confident handling substantial and awkward loads.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating B2 and C1 forklift trucks safely and efficiently
- Moving large, heavy steel structures and materials around the site
- Loading, unloading and positioning materials
- Supplying production areas with the materials they need
- Carrying out daily pre-use checks and reporting any defects
- Assessing loads and planned routes before moving materials
- Working closely with production teams to meet operational deadlines
- Maintaining high standards of safety and housekeeping
- Following all site procedures and safe systems of work
What we’re looking for
Applicants must have:
- Current, in-date B2 and C1 forklift certificates
- Proven experience of moving heavy steel structures, long loads or similarly substantial materials
- Confidence handling large, awkward and heavy loads
- A strong and consistent focus on health and safety
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or heavy industrial environment
- The ability to remain calm and work safely under time pressure
- Good awareness of pedestrians, equipment and changing site conditions
- A reliable, practical and team-focused approach
Due to the nature of the work, we are looking for an experienced operator who understands that safety and control must always come before speed.
