Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Estate Operative (Maintenance/Handy Person) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and the upkeep of our estate, ensuring all facilities are in excellent condition, and providing general handyman and groundskeeping services. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to the smooth operation and aesthetic appeal of our property. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a versatile skill set in maintenance tasks.
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections of the estate’s buildings, grounds, and facilities to identify maintenance and cleaning needs
- Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks including minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical work as required
- Assist with gardening, landscaping, and outdoor upkeep to ensure the estate remains tidy and well-presented
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff
- Ensure all health and safety regulations are adhered to during maintenance activities
- Maintain a stock of necessary tools and materials, and organise inventory as needed
- Collaborate with external contractors for specialised repairs or installations when necessary
- Keep detailed records of maintenance work carried out and report on ongoing issues
Requirements
- Proven experience in general maintenance or handyman roles is highly desirable
- Strong practical skills across multiple trades such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, and painting
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision whilst maintaining high standards of safety and quality
- Good organisational skills with an eye for detail
- Physical fitness to carry out manual tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in trades or maintenance are advantageous but not essential
