Location: Orchard School – Lufton, Yeovil
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, term time
Salary: Up to £44,746 per annum DOE
The Orchard is a small and unique specialist provision, nestled amongst the woodlands on the outskirts of Yeovil.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, determined and committed Deputy Headteacher to join our team at Orchard school. The ideal candidate will form part of the Senior Management Team of the school in the planning and implementation of policies, practice and working procedures. .

The Orchard school is a highly specialist, DfE-registered independent day school for students aged 11–18. The school provides tailored educational and therapeutic support for young people who have suffered trauma or have complex social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

- Successful experience of effectively supervising other staff, including those who themselves have a supervisory role.
- Successful experience of working effectively within special education.
- Successful experience in planning and organising educational programs appropriate to individual’s needs and abilities.
- Successful experience of promoting good quality professional development to others.
- Successful experience in taking a lead role in curriculum development for pupils with special educational needs.
- Successful experience of setting, reviewing and evaluating measurable standards.
- Successful experience of implementing positive behaviour support strategies for clients with complex trauma, ASD, learning disabilities and associated disorders.
- Knowledge of current curriculum developments and their implementation within a specialist setting.
Qualifications
- Degree level teaching qualification/Degree in relevant field and experience.
