Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Shuttering Carpenter to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for constructing and installing formwork for concrete structures on various building projects. This role requires a strong understanding of carpentry techniques, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work safely in a dynamic environment. Duties
- Construct, assemble, and install formwork for concrete structures in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to cut, shape, and secure formwork materials.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering plans to ensure accurate execution of formwork layouts.
- Perform welding tasks as required to reinforce formwork structures and ensure stability.
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on formwork components to ensure longevity and safety.
- Assist with heavy lifting and positioning of formwork panels using appropriate equipment or manual handling techniques.
- Collaborate with other trades such as masonry, roofing, and general carpentry teams to coordinate activities efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organised worksite, adhering strictly to health and safety regulations at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Shuttering Carpenter or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and mechanical systems relevant to carpentry tasks.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry principles, masonry work, roofing techniques, and structural formwork installation.
- Ability to undertake heavy lifting safely and efficiently over extended periods.
- Valid driving licence for commercial driving is advantageous but not essential.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail when reading technical drawings or blueprints.
- Physical fitness suitable for working outdoors in various weather conditions; capable of working at heights if required.
- Relevant certifications or training in health & safety practices are desirable.
