MS-Group is creating a new, standalone Health & Safety Officer role. Health and safety has, to date, been led by the Operations Director alongside their other duties. As the group has grown, this is no longer sustainable the business needs a dedicated specialist to own health and safety day to day, free up the Operations Director's time, and bring consistent, professional practice across all sites and branches.
The role is standalone there is no direct team but the Health & Safety Officer will work closely with a nominated Health & Safety representative in each part of the business, who help implement changes and actions locally, and with an external retained health and safety advisor that visits across the year to carry out formal risk assessments. The Officer is responsible for translating the outputs of both into practical, embedded improvement across the group.
Key responsibilities
Coordinate visits from the external Health & Safety body, ensure risk assessments are scheduled, hosted, and their findings understood by site teams.
Manage accident, incident and near-miss reporting, including RIDDOR reporting where required, and lead on root-cause investigation.
Advise on specific risks relevant to production and workshop environments, including manual handling, machinery, dust and COSHH, as well as branch-based customer-facing risks.

Essential
Some practical experience in a health and safety role, ideally 13 years, gained in a multi-site, production, manufacturing or retail environment.
Working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, RIDDOR, COSHH and manual handling regulations.
