We are seeking talented individuals with strong technical expertise in lighting and, ideally, a background in design. Candidates without formal design experience but with the willingness to be trained in lighting design are also encouraged to apply.
You will be joining the newly established CEF Internal Lighting Designer - MIdlands, created to support and expand our growing lighting category. This role offers exposure to a broad range of projects—including commercial, industrial, residential, and retail—where you will help clients achieve innovative, sustainable, and energy-efficient lighting solutions. You will also play a key role in providing technical support and guidance to our Sales teams.
What You’ll Do
- Provide technical support and advice to our Sales teams on Luminaires, Lamps, Control Gear and Lighting Controls.
- Support our External Lighting Engineers by designing bespoke lighting solutions using Relux/Dialux.
- Work collaboratively with consultants, contractors, and clients to deliver tailored lighting solutions
- Collaborate with the Procurement team to grow the lighting category in line with our centrally defined strategy and key supplier partnerships.
- Develop strong technical knowledge of key supplier products through regular training and supplier visits.
- Provide expert technical guidance and energy-efficient recommendations for projects of all sizes
- Stay up-to-date with lighting trends, legislation, and emerging technologies.
- Work Collaboratively with internal teams and CEF branches to support sales opportunities.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience and knowledge of lighting to a high level, ideally trained in lighting design or in similar roles within the electrical/lighting industry.
- Strong understanding of lighting products, standards, and relevant regulations
- Proficiency with lighting design software (Relux, Dialux or equivalent) OR willingness and ability to be trained.
- LIA qualifications OR willingness to complete these in the role
- Excellent communication skills.
- A creative eye for design combined with strong technical understanding.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively
