About us
We are looking for a nurse associate/ trainee nurse associate/ health care assistant to join our friendly and supportive team of GPs, Nurse practitioners, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and non-clinical team members at Wragby Surgery. The surgery is purpose-built and our mission is to provide high-quality, friendly and accessible primary healthcare to our patients, in the town of Wragby and the surrounding villages.
About the role
Your responsibilities – and rate of pay - will depend on your current level of qualifications and experience. We will provide the necessary training and support to further develop your skills if you are interested.
- Phlebotomy/ venepuncture
- BP checks, height, weight, BMI, urinalysis and smoking status
- Prepare specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory
- Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions according to Infection Control guidelines and undertake infection control monitoring
- NHS health checks
- New patient health checks
- Record ECG
- Maintain accurate and complete records and other documentation
- Initial appointment for long term condition annual reviews including diabetes
- Work with the practice population and wider community to promote healthy living and encourage uptake of services.
- Health promotion advice for healthy eating, exercise, alcohol consumption and smoking
- Be aware of and recognise issues relating to safeguarding for both adults and children and reports any concerns to the appropriate person
Perform routine nursing tasks such as:
- Dressings and wound care
- Monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment
- Assist in the provision of minor surgery and surgical procedures
- Assist the patient and other clinicians in the delivery of care in urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care
- Act as chaperone and assist patients
About you
We require someone with initiative, drive, strong interpersonal and IT skills. You will need strong interpersonal skills and a problem-solving approach; especially under pressure. A caring, empathetic character is essential. System1 and experience of working in a GP practice is preferred but training will be provided for the right candidate.
