Wangford Veterinary Clinic is a busy, independent veterinary practice in Suffolk, and we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Animal Nursing Assistant to join our friendly team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for animal care who is looking to gain hands-on experience within a veterinary environment and develop a long-term career in veterinary nursing.
About the Role
This is a varied hybrid role combining both clinical support and administrative responsibilities. Working closely with our veterinary surgeons, nurses, reception team and clients, you will play an important role in the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
This is a full-time position working 43.5 hours per week, with shifts scheduled between 8:30am and 7:15pm, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Cleaning, maintaining and preparing clinical areas
- Preparing equipment and consulting rooms for procedures
- Assisting veterinary surgeons and nursing staff where appropriate
- Supporting inpatient care and animal handling
- Carrying out laboratory tasks and sample preparation
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control
- Stock management and replenishment of clinical supplies
Administrative Duties
- Supporting the reception and client care teams
- Assisting clients both in person and over the telephone
- Managing and updating patient records
- Processing paperwork and administrative tasks
- Supporting appointment management and practice workflow
- General office and administrative duties as required
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for animal welfare and veterinary care
- Ideally has previous animal care experience and/or relevant qualifications
- Is interested in developing a long-term career in veterinary nursing
- Has excellent communication and customer service skills
- Works well as part of a team in a busy environment
- Is organised, reliable and able to multitask
- Has a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
- Is comfortable working in a fast-paced veterinary practice
