Primary Teaching Assistant
At Sense Education, we believe that being a Teaching Assistant is about so much more than helping children with their learning. It’s about being the person who notices little things, celebrates the smallest achievements and helps a child feel safe, valued and understood.
We are looking for a caring and compassionate Primary Teaching Assistant to join a school in Rossendale, supporting pupils with SEND throughout their school day. You’ll be working alongside teachers and other support staff to help pupils access learning, develop their confidence and independence and most importantly, enjoy coming to school. Every child is different and the right person will understand that progress doesn’t always look like a completed worksheet – sometimes it’s a smile, a new word, joining in with an activity or simply feeling comfortable enough to try.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference. You’ll need patience, empathy and a calm approach, alongside a real desire to understand each child as an individual. Experience working with SEND pupils is highly desirable, but we are also interested in people with relevant childcare, education or care experience who have the right values and attitude.
You’ll ideally have:
· Experience supporting children with SEND
· A TA qualification or relevant experience
· A patient, nurturing and understanding nature
· The ability to build trusting relationships with pupils
· A positive and encouraging approach to learning
· A genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential
· The confidence to work as part of a wider school team

· Minimum qualifications required – A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree or equivalent)
· Experience supporting children with SEND
· Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities
