Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Class 1 Afternoon Trunk Driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating decker trailers to trunk goods efficiently across designated routes. This role requires a professional attitude, excellent driving skills, and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards throughout all operations. The position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, contributing to the smooth flow of our supply chain during afternoon shifts.
12.00 START MONDAY TO THURSDAY & 17.00 START FRIDAY
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 lorries on designated routes during afternoon shifts
- Load and secure cargo appropriately , ensuring compliance with safety regulations
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify any maintenance or safety issues
- Deliver goods to clients and distribution centres in a timely manner, maintaining accurate delivery documentation
- Adhere strictly to all road safety laws and company policies during driving operations
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and warehouse teams regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered
- Maintain cleanliness and good condition of the vehicle throughout the shift
- Assist with loading and unloading cargo when required, ensuring proper handling procedures are followed
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 (C+E) driving licence with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, particularly in delivery or trunk driving roles
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for commercial driving
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently during shifts
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks
