We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fire Marshall to oversee fire safety protocols and ensure compliance within our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing fire prevention measures, conducting safety inspections, and coordinating emergency response procedures. This role is vital in maintaining a safe working environment and safeguarding personnel and property from fire hazards. The Fire Marshall will also contribute to system design improvements related to fire safety infrastructure, leveraging construction experience where applicable. Responsibilities
- Conduct regular fire safety inspections across all facilities to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive fire safety policies and procedures tailored to organisational needs.
- Coordinate and lead fire drills, ensuring all staff are familiar with evacuation routes and emergency protocols.
- Oversee the maintenance, testing, and inspection of fire detection and suppression systems, ensuring they are fully operational at all times.
- Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or renovations to incorporate effective fire safety system design and infrastructure enhancements.
- Provide training sessions for staff on fire prevention, emergency response, and the proper use of firefighting equipment.
- Liaise with local emergency services and regulatory bodies to ensure ongoing compliance and stay informed of any updates or changes in legislation.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, drills, incidents, and corrective actions taken.
- Lead investigations into fire-related incidents to determine causes and recommend preventative measures.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction or facilities management with a focus on fire safety systems or infrastructure design.
- Strong understanding of system design principles related to fire detection, alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and other suppression technologies.
- Relevant qualifications in fire safety management or related fields are highly desirable.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong communication skills for delivering training programmes and liaising with external agencies.
- Ability to work independently with a proactive approach towards safety improvements.
- A recognised health & safety qualification or certification is preferred but not essential.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety compliance at all times.
