Utopia Independent Special School | Wirral | From September 2026
At Utopia, we believe that to provide exceptional support to our students, we must first provide exceptional support to our staff. We've cultivated a workplace built on professional trust, safety, and genuine collaboration, a culture that drives everything we do and ensures sustainable work-life balance, wellbeing, and long-term professional fulfilment.
About Us
Utopia is a Wirral-based independent special school for young people aged 13–19 with autism, high levels of anxiety, and emotional barriers to school attendance. With a cohort of just 32 students, we provide intensive, personalised support for those with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who thrive in a nurturing environment.
Our responsibility is to create a safe, caring space where our amazing students can access education with confidence. Through trusting, meaningful relationships, we make long-lasting, positive change, helping young people realise their potential and find a genuine sense of belonging.
The Opportunity
From September 2026, we're expanding our student pathways with an exciting new post-16 offer. This is a unique opportunity to help shape a developing provision and make a meaningful impact on students at a crucial stage of their education. As part of this expansion, we are seeking to recruit a Teacher of PE (with DofE & capacity to deliver other subjects) .
Why Join Utopia?
- Small cohort and class sizes – with 32 students across the whole school, you'll have the capacity to know every learner and make a genuine difference.
- 'Family first' ethos - we actively prioritise work-life balance because we know that staff who feel supported deliver the best outcomes for students.
- Manageable workload - our systems and processes are designed to be purposeful, student centred and sustainable.
- Friendly, supportive team - you'll join colleagues who collaborate genuinely and look out for one another.
What We're Looking For
Successful candidates will help create learning experiences in which students feel happy and safe, build lasting memories, and are surrounded by people who value their individuality, support their success, and foster their personal growth. You'll play a vital role in implementing our ethos of providing Accessible, Approachable, and Aspirational support, committed to our mission:
'To balance the academic and personal development outcomes of students based on their individual needs and aspirations. Utilising parental engagement to ensure that each student is appropriately prepared for adulthood.'
If you're ready to help shape something meaningful in a school that genuinely values its staff, we'd love to hear from you.
