We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our forward thinking and motivated team based in Wimborne. Walford Mill Medical Centre has approximately 8,200 patients with a growing population in our local area. We are committed to the future of the practice and enjoy working collaboratively within a Primary Care Network.
The position is part time for 16 hours per week. The working pattern is Monday and Thursday 8-5pm with potentially 1 Saturday morning to cover every other month.
Salary negotiable depending upon experience.
25 days annual leave + bank holidays pro rata and free car parking on site.

Job responsibilities:
- Phlebotomy
- Ensure samples including urine, swabs and other diagnostic tests are appropriately ready for collection but he team or stored appropriately for next day collection.
- Performing ECGs and ensure they have been analysed by an appropriate healthcare professional.
- Carrying our blood pressure checks.
- Advise patients on health care, lifestyle and illness prevention as appropriate.
- To support with monitoring of long term conditions.
- To undertake basic wound care and suture/clip removal.
- To undertake NHS Health Checks.
- To administer flu, pneumonia, B12 injections with adequate training.
- To share responsibility for appropriate stock control and ordering of drugs and medical supplies.
- Ear assessments (not syringing)
- To maintain high standards of tidiness and adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
- Requesting pathology tests on ICE as per guidelines.
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to other clinicians appropriate
- To undertake additional duties as may be necessary from time to time to meet the needs of patients and the practice.
Other tasks will include:
- Maintaining and cleaning medical equipment
- Participation in administrative systems in the practice
- At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
- A duty to advise management of potential problems or errors within a range of assigned tasks
- Attend and participate in any practice meetings - required.
- Undertake home visits if needed
- Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
