We are looking for a kind, reliable and enthusiastic Childminding Assistant to join our friendly home-based childcare setting in Chafford Hundred.
Working hours
- Monday to Thursday
- 8:00am–6:00pm
- Term time only
- Start date is flexible
- Pay: National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage, according to current legal rates
No formal childcare qualification is essential, as training and ongoing support will be provided. However, previous experience caring for babies or young children would be helpful. The ability to speak Lithuanian would be an advantage but is not essential.
Main responsibilities
- Caring for children aged approximately 1–4 years
- Supporting children through play and planned activities
- Following daily routines, including meals, naps, nappy changing and toileting
- Supporting children’s emotional, social and physical development
- Taking part in circle time, indoor activities, outdoor play and outings
- Helping maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment
- Recording brief observations and sharing information about children’s progress
- Following safeguarding, health and safety, and EYFS procedures
- Working closely with the registered childminder and another assistant
The ideal candidate will be
- Kind, patient and genuinely interested in working with young children
- Reliable and punctual
- Confident, energetic and willing to take initiative
- Comfortable providing personal care, including changing nappies
- Able to communicate well with children, parents and colleagues
- Willing to learn and complete all required training
- Able to work consistently during school term time
- Lithuanian-speaking would be beneficial, although not required
The successful applicant will be required to complete the necessary Ofsted suitability process, an enhanced DBS check, safeguarding requirements and paediatric first-aid training. Suitable references will also be required.
