As an Animal Keeper at Riseholme College, you'll play a vital role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of our Animal Management Centre while ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained across our diverse collection of species. You'll be responsible for delivering excellent day-to-day husbandry, including feeding, cleaning, enrichment, health monitoring and enclosure maintenance, while helping to create an outstanding learning environment for our students.
Working closely with academic staff, you'll support practical teaching sessions, supervise students during work experience and animal care activities, and help develop their confidence and industry skills. You'll also maintain accurate records, coordinate veterinary visits, supervise visitors to the Animal Unit, and contribute to the training and induction of new team members.
Based at Riseholme College, part of the Bishop Burton College Group, you'll work within a modern animal management facility housing a range of species, including rodents, reptiles and primates. The role includes evening and weekend duties as part of a rota, providing continuous care and welfare support for our animals while helping to deliver an exceptional student experience.
