Job Title: Digital IQA
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours a week
Salary: £30,000.00 - £40,000.00
Summary of Role: The Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) is responsible for maintaining the quality, consistency and compliance of teaching and assessment practices across allocated apprenticeships, commercial delivery and stand-alone qualifications. The role ensures teaching, assessment practice and learner outcomes meet requirements of Awarding Organisations, Qualifications Wales, Medr and Estyn.
A core aspect of the role is providing clear developmental feedback to Trainer Coaches to drive continuous improvement of teaching, assessment and learner achievement.
Key Duties
Internal Quality Assurance Delivery
· Plan, implement and review formative and summative IQA sampling activity in line with internal strategy and Awarding Organisation requirements.
· Ensure assessment decisions are valid, reliable, sufficient, current and authentic (VARKS).
· Provide clear, timely and developmental feedback to Trainer Coaches.
· Ensure assessment evidence meets qualification standards, rules of combination and Awarding Organisation methodologies.
· Maintain accurate IQA records, sampling plans and reports within agreed timescales.
· Ensure cross‑cutting themes (e.g., digital skills, sustainability), literacy, numeracy and Welsh language are embedded effectively.
Standardisation & Best Practice
· Plan and facilitate standardisation activities.
· Dissemination and implementation of Awarding Organisation updates, qualification changes and sector guidance.
· Model best practice in assessment, feedback and evidence judgement.
Trainer Coach Support & Development
· Conduct Trainer Coach observations of teaching, learning and assessment practice
· Provide coaching and professional support to Trainer Coaches linked to IQA and EQA findings.
· Support induction of new Trainer Coaches
· Identify risk linked to assessment practice and/or learner progress and implement targeted support and improvement.
External Quality Assurance (EQA) Support
· Support preparation for External Quality Assurance activity.
· Contribute to maintaining approval, certification and direct claim status where applicable.
· Respond promptly to EQA actions and support implementation of required improvements.
Quality Improvement & Collaboration
· Analyse IQA activity to identify trends, risks and strengths and implement improvement plans
· Work collaboratively with the Lead IQA, Quality Manager and operational teams to support quality improvement initiatives.
· Support internal and external audits, inspections and thematic reviews.
Ensure compliance with organisational policies including safeguarding, information security, equality, diversity and inclusion
Essential Criteria
· TAQA Level 4 / V1 or equivalent IQA qualification.
· Occupational competence of digital product management, digital product lifecycles, digital learning, digital skills for business, agile, digital innovation, data analysis and cyber.
· Experience of quality assuring assessment within FE or Work Based Learning environments.
· Strong knowledge of Awarding Organisation, Welsh Government, Estyn, Medr and Qualifications Wales requirements.
· Strong organisational and digital skills
· Able to work with adults at risk, children and young people.
· Full driving license, own vehicle and willing to travel across Wales with Business Cover Insurance (A copy of your insurance will be requested upon offer)
Desirable Criteria
· Teaching or assessor qualification.
· Occupational competence of data science, AI and/or data engineering.
· Experience supporting External Quality Assurance visits or inspections.
· Welsh language skills.
· Experience contributing to qualification development or implementation.

● Aspire 2Be/Educ8 preferred MIS reporting systems, Aspire360, Team8, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Edge, E-learning Portfolio, Moodle, any applicable external diagnostic tools
