We're looking for an experienced Head of Procurement – East Africa & UK to lead our sourcing strategy across one of the most critical areas of our business. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially driven procurement professional with extensive experience in the flower, horticulture or fresh produce industry who thrives on building strong supplier partnerships and delivering long-term strategic value.
About the role
Reporting to the Group Procurement Director, you'll be responsible for developing and delivering procurement strategies across East Africa and the UK, ensuring a secure, sustainable and commercially competitive supply of flowers.
Leading procurement teams across the UK and Europe, you'll work closely with growers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with customer demand, optimise planting programmes, and deliver exceptional commercial performance.
This is a highly visible leadership role where you'll influence business strategy while building long-term partnerships with growers across Kenya, Ethiopia, the UK, Ireland and other key sourcing regions.
What you'll be doing
- Leading the procurement strategy across East Africa and the UK, aligned to MM Flowers' Group objectives.
- Developing long-term sourcing and category strategies to ensure security of supply.
- Building and strengthening strategic relationships with growers and suppliers across multiple international markets.
- Managing planting schedules, crop plans and rolling forecasts to meet customer demand.
- Leading commercial negotiations to deliver value while maintaining quality and ethical sourcing standards.
- Managing procurement budgets, forecasts and key performance measures.
- Leading, coaching and developing high-performing procurement teams across multiple locations.
- Working collaboratively with Technical, Commercial and Operations teams to deliver customer programmes.
- Monitoring market trends, supplier performance and procurement data to drive informed decision making.
- Championing sustainability, innovation and responsible sourcing across the supply base.
What we're looking for
You'll be an experienced procurement leader with a strong track record of delivering commercial success within the flower, horticulture or fresh produce sectors.
You'll also bring:
- Extensive senior procurement experience within flowers, horticulture or fresh produce.
- Strong knowledge of global flower supply chains and international sourcing.
- Proven experience leading high-performing teams across multiple regions.
- Outstanding negotiation, supplier management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong commercial, analytical and financial acumen.
- Experience developing long-term procurement and category strategies.
- The ability to build trusted relationships with growers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- A passion for sustainability, continuous improvement and delivering operational excellence.
Experience with procurement systems, digital sourcing tools and sustainability initiatives would be advantageous, as would additional European languages.
