Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic culinary team. This role is vital in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff in delivering high-quality food service. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all kitchen areas are hygienic and well-stocked, contributing to the smooth operation of our establishment. Previous experience in a hospitality or restaurant setting is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. Duties
- Washing, peeling, and preparing ingredients for cooking or service
- Cleaning dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to the highest standards
- Maintaining cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Assisting with food preparation tasks under supervision
- Restocking supplies and ensuring the correct storage of ingredients and equipment
- Supporting the kitchen team during busy periods by efficiently managing cleaning duties
- Adhering to all food safety and hygiene standards at all times
- Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures in line with environmental policies
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable but not mandatory
- Familiarity with basic food preparation and kitchen hygiene practices is advantageous
- Experience in serving or hospitality roles can be beneficial for understanding customer service standards
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills within a fast-paced environment
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail are essential for maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
