We are looking for a caring and committed Support Worker to join a small, dedicated team supporting a young woman to live as independently as possible and enjoy activities in her community.
The role is based in the Allendale area, so being a car driver is essential. A mobility vehicle is available for use when supporting the young woman to access activities and outings.
This role is all about promoting independence while also giving her family carers valuable time to rest and recharge.
The young woman has RETT syndrome, a neurological condition, and is non verbal. She communicates in her own unique ways, and you will play an important role in understanding and responding to her needs. She has hypermobility and can walk short distances, but uses a wheelchair for longer outings.
Support is needed with all aspects of her daily routine, including personal care.
We are looking for someone who is warm, patient, and confident in building a trusting relationship. You should feel comfortable interpreting communication through facial expressions and behaviour, and be physically able to support mobility needs, including wheelchair use.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to:
-
Be female due to personal care requirements
-
Have experience supporting non verbal individuals, whether professionally or personally
-
Be confident, observant, and able to build a strong connection
-
Be a driver and able to travel to Allendale
-
Be over 21 due to insurance requirements for the mobility vehicle
Be flexible and willing to work a range of shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight support
-
Further details about the role, available hours, and the young woman herself will be shared at interview.
