We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident and highly organized individual for the role of Café Supervisor at the Harris.
Free to enter and open to everyone, The Harris is a culturally significant civic building - a place for people to meet, explore ideas and engage with culture in the centre of Preston. After a £19 million restoration bringing together a museum, art gallery and library with blended displays, The Harris hosts major changing exhibitions, cultural events and workshops with nationally significant collections. Since reopening in September 2025, the Harris has received over 320,000 visitors from Preston, Lancashire and across the UK and features in Time Out Magazine Top 20 Best Museums in the UK.
What’s the role about?
As the Food & Beverage Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the Harris Food & Beverage offer (Harris café and Harris event and wedding catering), ensuring a high-quality offer and smooth operation. Delivering against financial targets to maximise income and profitably, managing budgets and costs, you will ensure the Harris café is commercially successful, and an integral part of the visitor offer. With great people skills, able to lead and develop a team to deliver excellent customer service and high standards of food and drink products, you will be hands on working alongside the team in the busy café.
What are we looking for?
You will need to be/have:
- Experience in managing catering operations with proven ability to run or support a successful catering service including operational oversight and staff coordination
- Able to motivate and support others with experience of leading or coordinating a team
- Knowledge of budgets, increasing income and controlling costs, including wages, stock and waste management
- Able to identify and implement new opportunities to increase revenue
- Helpful & friendly with a positive attitude
- Customer focused with great communication skills
- Aware of Health & Safety compliance
