Insafe Hands Childcare are looking for a caring, friendly and enthusiastic Playworker to join our team.
Due to an increase in our numbers, we are delighted to be expanding and are looking for someone who will help us provide a safe, happy and welcoming environment where children can relax after school and at holiday club, have fun and enjoy a wide range of activities and free play.
About the role
You will support children through play, activities and routines in our out of school care setting, building positive relationships with children, families and staff. You’ll work as part of a small, supportive team and help ensure the club runs smoothly each day while providing high-quality care.
Hours
This role is averaged at 25 hours per week and is made up of approximately 27.5 hours per week during term time and 24 hours per week during our holiday club periods. 7am-9am Monday to Friday morning , 2:45-6:00 Monday to Friday termtime and 3 full days during holidays .
Key responsibilities
- Provide a safe, caring and welcoming environment for children
- Support child-led play and offer engaging activities (indoor and outdoor)
- Supervise children at all times, following health & safety guidance
- Support snack times, routines and transitions
- Work well as part of a team, communicating clearly and supporting colleagues
- Complete paperwork to a high standard, including personal plans, care plans and daily records
- Follow medication procedures and accurately administer and record medication in line with policy
- Use GIRFEC to support and track children’s wellbeing using the SHANARRI indicators
- Follow safeguarding, child protection and confidentiality procedures at all times
- Work in line with the Health and Social Care Standards
Essential requirements
- SVQ Level 7 in Children and Young People (or an equivalent qualification)
- SSSC registration (or willingness to register, if not already registered)
- PVG (or willingness to apply)
- Good understanding of GIRFEC and how to use it in practice
- Good knowledge of the Health and Social Care Standards
