We’re searching for an engaging People Advisor (12 Month FTC)!
While this role is predominantly focused on employee relations, it’s about more than managing cases. You’ll work closely with our managers, coaching and supporting them to feel confident handling people matters themselves, building capability across the business and reducing reliance on day to day HR/ER support.
You’ll help us move towards a more modern, self-service approach to HR/ER, where managers feel empowered to take ownership of their decisions, with the right support to ensure everything is fair, consistent and legally sound. Along the way, you’ll also get involved in wider people initiatives like engagement, wellbeing, ED&I and continuous improvement.
Employee Relations Management

Manage a varied ER caseload including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters, ensuring a fair, consistent and robust approach at all times.

Support on any TUPE or restructure activity.

Partner closely with the ER Manager on complex or high-risk cases.

Ensure all cases are managed in line with employment law, company policy and best practice.

Support early resolution of employee relations matters to minimise escalation.
Advisory and Coaching Support

Manage ER caseworkend to endtoeffectively balancerisk, practical employee experience and commercially focused outcomes.

Review and prepare documentation including letters, reports and outcome communications

Support, coach and develop managers to build confidence and capability in handling employee relations matters effectively and independently.

Support the transition toward a manager self-service model by promoting ownership and accountability for people management decisions.

Deliver both informal and structured coaching to improve understanding of ER processes and best practice.

Create and maintain guidance materials, toolkits and practical resources that enable effective self-service people management.
Policy and Compliance

Ensure all ER activity aligns with employment legislation, internal policy and organisational values.

Support the simplification,standardisationand continuous improvementof employee relations processesworkingtowards aneffective self-servicemodel.

Contribute to the development of clear, accessible guidance and documentation that promotes consistency in decision-making across the organisation.

Maintain accurate and compliant HR records, ensuring adherence to GDPR and data protection standards.

Ensure HR systems are accurately maintained, supporting high-quality data and reporting.
Data Reporting and Continuous Imporvement

Produce and analyse ER data to identify trends, risks and areas for improvement.

Identify recurring themes and management capability gaps, using insight to recommend targeted coaching interventions and process improvements.

Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing manager self-sufficiency and reducing reliance on escalated HR support.
People Team Initiatives - While the role is predominantly ER focused, you will be involved in generalist activity including:
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and day-to-day operations across the entire colleague journey.

Support on day to day People initiatives including engagement, wellbeing, reward and ED&I initiatives where required.

Support on company and departmental projects
You’ll play a key role in shaping a coaching-led, manager-first people approach, building confidence, strengthening capability, and helping our managers take ownership of people decisions, while ensuring everything remains fair, consistent and legally sound.

Proven experience in an ER Advisor /People Advisor role within a complex and fast paced organisation

Experience of TUPE, restructures or organisational change

Strong end-to-end employee relations experience (disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance), encouraging a manager self-service model.

Confident coaching and influencing managers to handle employee relations matters effectively

Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice

Ability to translate policy and legal requirements into clear, practical guidance for managers

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility at all levels

Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment

Confident using HR systems and Microsoft Office tools

Degree educated and/ or CIPD qualified (desirable)
