About the Role
We are expanding our in-house IT team and are recruiting Software Developers to work on Magnex, one of our key internal software projects. The role involves joining a small IT team where you will be responsible for building systems from the ground up, with direct input into design and implementation decisions.
This role requires a developer who takes ownership of their work, applies sound engineering practice, and is capable of operating effectively within a small team on a project of significant business importance.
AI-assisted development tools are used as part of our engineering workflow, and candidates should be comfortable incorporating these into their day-to-day work where appropriate.
We are recruiting across a range of experience levels, from graduate developers to senior/experienced developers. Please indicate your level of experience in your application.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build software features as part of a small development team
- Work across the full development lifecycle, from requirements and design through to build, testing, and deployment
- Collaborate with colleagues across the business to translate operational requirements into working software
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code
- Contribute to technical decisions and documentation as the project evolves
- Make effective use of AI-assisted development tools to support code quality and delivery speed
- Support the reliability, security, and overall quality of the software produced
Essential Requirements
- Solid experience in software development (please specify your preferred language/stack)
- Demonstrable experience across the full development lifecycle, from requirements through to deployment
- Ability to work effectively within a small team, communicate clearly, and take ownership of assigned work
- A methodical, detail-oriented approach, with consistent attention to accuracy and reliability
- Commitment to sound engineering practice and code quality, beyond minimum feature delivery
Desirable Skills
Experience in one or both of the following areas is advantageous but not required. Candidates are not required to hold both skill sets, and absence of either will not affect the outcome of an application that meets the essential requirements.
- Database knowledge — experience with schema design, queries, or data integrity, ranging from working familiarity with SQL to specialist-level expertise.
- Cybersecurity knowledge — awareness of secure coding practices, authentication, or data protection principles, ranging from general good-practice knowledge to specialist experience.
What We Offer
- Direct ownership of technical design and implementation decisions
- A small team structure in which individual contribution is clearly visible
- Exposure to substantive technical work rather than routine maintenance
Pay: £24,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
