Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Steel Fixer to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing and securing steel reinforcement bars in various construction projects, ensuring structural integrity and safety. This role requires a strong understanding of steel fixing techniques, as well as the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within the construction industry while contributing to high-quality building projects.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine the placement of reinforcement bars.
- Measure, cut, bend, and assemble steel reinforcement bars using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment as necessary.
- Secure steel bars in position using ties, clips, or other fastening methods, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications.
- Collaborate with other trades such as carpenters, masons, and roofers to coordinate activities on-site.
- Assist in the lifting and positioning of heavy steel components safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Conduct routine inspections of installed reinforcement to ensure accuracy and quality control throughout the project duration.
Skills
- Proven experience in steel fixing or related construction roles.
- Proficiency with welding techniques is highly desirable.
- Skilled in using hand tools such as pliers, hammers, and measuring tapes; as well as power tools including grinders and drills.
- Strong mechanical knowledge relevant to reinforcing steel installation processes.
- Experience with carpentry, roofing, masonry, or heavy lifting is advantageous.
- Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints accurately.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations on construction sites is essential.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments, often involving heavy lifting and long periods standing or walking.
- Valid commercial driving licence is a plus but not essential.
