Overview
Working pattern Thursday and Fridays 11 am to 1 pm - We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Nursery Lunch Cover staff member to join our vibrant early childhood education team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the daily needs of young children by providing nutritious meals and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment during lunchtime. As a key part of our nursery community, you will help foster positive experiences for children while maintaining high standards of care and safety. This paid position is perfect for individuals passionate about childcare, with a focus on creating enjoyable and healthy mealtime experiences. This is lunch-cover to enable existing staff to take their breaks.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve nutritious lunches and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and nursery policies (reheating only as meals come pre made)
- Supervise children during mealtime, encouraging good manners and social interaction
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children throughout lunch periods, responding promptly to any needs or concerns
- Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, including sanitizing tables and utensils after use
- Support children in developing independence around eating and hygiene routines
- Communicate effectively with nursery staff about any dietary restrictions or special needs
- Assist with setting up and packing away lunch supplies, ensuring all equipment is stored safely
Experience
- Previous experience working with children in a childcare or nursery setting is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills in English to interact confidently with children, colleagues.
- Childcare qualifications or nursery experience are preferred but not essential; a genuine passion for working with young children is required
- Ability to follow health and safety procedures diligently
