We are seeking a vigilant, observant and compassionate security professional to join our team. The successful candidate will assume the position of Hospital Security Cover Officer, providing essential support to our frontline operations.
Hospitals operate as dynamic, high-stakes environments where circumstances vary considerably from day to day. This role extends beyond conventional property protection; it encompasses the provision of safety assurance and reassurance to patients, medical personnel and visitors during particularly vulnerable periods. As a Cover Officer, you will deliver critical operational flexibility, providing cover for the core team across multiple wards and departments as required.
Maintain a Vigilant Presence: Conduct systematic internal and external patrols of hospital premises, including Accident & Emergency, ward areas and car parking facilities.
Incident Response: Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies, alarm activations and requests for assistance.
Conflict De-escalation: Manage challenging behaviour and resolve tense situations through a composed, assured and empathetic approach.
Access Control: Monitor CCTV systems, manage visitor access where necessary and ensure restricted areas remain appropriately secured.
Staff & Patient Support: Provide a reassuring presence to NHS and medical personnel, facilitating the maintenance of a secure working environment.
Reporting: Document all incidents with precision and maintain comprehensive daily occurrence records.
Valid Security Licence: Current SIA licence (Door Supervisor).
Conflict Resolution Competency: Demonstrable experience in managing difficult situations with composure and professionalism.
Physical Stamina & Resilience: Capability to remain mobile for extended periods during 12-hour shifts and maintain resilience within high-pressure environments.
Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written abilities are essential for interacting effectively with concerned visitors and preparing incident documentation.
Operational Flexibility: As a cover officer, the ability to work variable shift patterns including days, nights and weekends is essential.
Healthcare Sector Experience: (Desirable) Previous experience within healthcare or public-facing security environments would be advantageous.
