Overview
The Activities Co-ordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our care home. This position is responsible for planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities that cater to the diverse interests and needs of seniors, including those requiring dementia care. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a passion for senior care, ensuring that all activities promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical well-being.
Duties
- Continue existing programs and develop further programmes tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Coordinate and oversee daily activities, ensuring they are engaging, inclusive, and beneficial to residents' well-being.
- Foster a warm and welcoming environment that encourages participation from all residents.
- Collaborate with care staff to identify individual resident needs and preferences for personalised activity planning.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of programmes.
- Organise special events, outings, and celebrations that enhance community spirit within the care home.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming activities and encourage involvement.
- Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations while providing a safe environment for residents.
Requirements
- Previous experience in an Activities Co-ordinator role or similar position within a care home or assisted living environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with residents, families, and staff members.
- A genuine passion for senior care and enhancing the lives of elderly individuals.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative in planning activities.
