To oversee and lead a team of operatives, ensuring efficient operation of Plastic Injection Moulding machines, maintaining product quality, minimising downtime, and meeting production targets, through a pro-active, hands-on, and organised approach.
Working on rotating shifts 6.00-14.00, 14.00-22.00, early finish on Fridays. 20% shift allowance for rotating shift.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Set up, start up, and optimise injection moulding machines and ancillary equipment
- Lead, supervise, support and mentor a team of operatives to improve performance and skills
- Ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery deadlines are consistently met
- Carry out any machine modifications/changes (tool/colour/etc.) safely and efficiently
- Troubleshoot process and machine issues to minimise downtime
- Monitor and adjust machine settings to maintain product quality
- Oversee first-off inspections and ongoing quality checks
- Ensuring critical spare part levels are monitored and replenished
- Comply with and enforce company Health & Safety requirements
- Complete production documentation and shift reports accurately and in timely fashion
- Fully understand and utilise in-house production software
- Liaise with maintenance, quality, and management teams as required
- Fully support Production Manager to drive continuous improvement throughout moulding department
Skills and Key Attributes
- Proven experience in Plastic Injection Moulding (setting/processing)
- Previous experience of leading/supervising a small team (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of moulding machines, materials, and tooling
- Ability to troubleshoot processing issues with problem solving mindset
- Understanding of quality standards and inspection processes
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Experience with a production software module
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong understanding and commitment to Health & Safety guidelines and 5s processes
- Attention to detail, and Pro-active approach
