Join our kitchen team…
We’re looking for an experienced, organised and passionate Breakfast Chef to take ownership of one of the most important services of the day.
The Duke of Edinburgh is a busy hotel with 51 bedrooms, serving a large number of corporate guests during the week alongside a popular weekend breakfast and brunch offering. This isn’t a role where breakfast is treated as an afterthought - we’re a full-service kitchen and we believe every plate leaving the pass should be something to be proud of.
Whether it’s perfectly poached eggs, silky hollandaise, a full English cooked to perfection or a freshly prepared brunch dish, quality and consistency matter.
If you’re looking for a role where your mornings are busy, your afternoons are your own, and your work is genuinely appreciated, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing…
You’ll be responsible for running the breakfast kitchen independently, ensuring every guest receives an excellent start to their day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Running a busy breakfast and brunch service independently.
- Managing your own breakfast stock levels, ordering requirements and daily preparation.
- Preparing food and components to support the wider kitchen service later in the day.
- Delivering consistently high-quality dishes, even during busy periods.
- Maintaining excellent food safety, cleanliness and organisation at all times.
- Working closely with the wider kitchen team to ensure a smooth transition into lunch service.
- Taking pride in every plate that leaves the kitchen.
About you…
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Have previous chef experience in a busy commercial kitchen.
- Are confident working independently and managing your own section.
- Work quickly, efficiently and calmly under pressure.
- Take genuine pride in your cooking and presentation.
- Understand that the small details matter
- Have excellent food safety knowledge and consistently high standards.
- Are reliable, organised and enjoy early starts.
- Love being part of a team that genuinely cares about quality.
What we offer…
- Salary of £18,500–£20,500 per year, depending on experience.
- A consistent 24.5 hour, five-day working week with daytime hours.
- No late finishes, split shifts or evening work - just great breakfast and brunch service.
- Opportunities for additional paid hours covering holidays, sickness and supporting the wider kitchen team during busy periods.
- Staff discount across Lancaster Brewery venues.
- Access to our Stream employee app, offering retail discounts, wellbeing support and financial wellbeing tools.
- Ongoing training and development.
- A supportive team that believes in doing things properly.
If you’re someone who enjoys taking ownership of your section, takes pride in producing excellent food and wants to be part of a kitchen that values quality, consistency and teamwork, we’d love to hear from you.
