Job Purpose
To safely and efficiently operate a range of woodworking machinery to produce high-quality components in accordance with production schedules, quality standards, and health and safety requirements. The role requires a practical understanding of woodworking machinery, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a production team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of woodworking machines including:
- Edgebanders
- Panel presses
- Wide belt sanders
- Cross-cut and rip saws (where trained)
- Other production machinery as required
- Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
- Set up machines for standard production runs within agreed parameters.
- Monitor machine performance and make minor adjustments to maintain product quality.
- Inspect finished components to ensure they meet specification and quality standards.
- Identify and report defects, equipment faults, or production issues promptly.
- Read and interpret production paperwork, cutting lists, and work instructions.
- Maintain accurate production records where required.
- Carry out routine cleaning and basic daily maintenance of machinery.
- Keep the work area clean, organised, and compliant with 5S/housekeeping standards.
- Follow company Health & Safety procedures at all times, including the correct use of PPE.
- Assist colleagues across different production areas when required.
- Meet production targets while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience operating woodworking machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of workshop health and safety practices.
- Ability to use measuring equipment accurately.
- Good attention to detail.
- Reliable with good timekeeping.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically capable of handling timber panels and components safely.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Desirable
- Previous experience with edgebanders, panel presses, or wide belt sanders.
- FLT (Forklift Truck) licence.
- Manual handling training.
- Experience working within a lean manufacturing environment.
- Basic knowledge of machine maintenance.

Working Hours
Monday to Thursday 07.30-15.30
Friday 07.30-14.30
Training
The successful candidate will receive training on company procedures, machinery, health & safety requirements, and quality standards. Ongoing training and development opportunities will be provided to expand machine skills and support career progression.
Pay: £14.00-£16.00 per hour
