The Role
We're looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Research & Engineering team in Blyth. This is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of commercial, capital and research projects that support the development and testing of offshore renewable energy technologies. You'll play a key role in ensuring our facilities continue to support industry innovation and the transition to net zero.
Working across a diverse portfolio of projects, you'll oversee the design, development, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment, providing specialist expertise to support commercial testing, research activities and asset developments. You'll help ensure electrical systems and equipment are operated, maintained and developed in line with industry standards, safety requirements and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities;

Act as an Authorised Person (AP) and provide technical support for Low Voltage electrical systems across the Blyth site.

Serve as design authority for electrical installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance activities.

Lead the design, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.

Provide technical expertise across commercial testing, research and capital projects.

Manage multiple projects, ensuring delivery against quality, cost and timescale requirements.

Support tender preparation, technical evaluations and customer and supplier interfaces.

Manage electrical contractors and supplier relationships.

Produce, review and technically sign off engineering reports, drawings and procedures.

Maintain accurate project and design records in line with business, customer and accreditation requirements.

Present project progress, engineering proposals and technical recommendations to colleagues, management and clients.

Mentor and support the development of engineers within the team.

Identify opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement and facility enhancement.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards, including ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001 and ISO17025.
About You;
-
Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership with a recognised professional body.

5+ year's experience in a relevant electrical engineering environment.

Experience in electrical design, installation, testing and commissioning.

Strong knowledge of electrical systems including substations, transformers, converters, switchgear and protection systems.

Experience of electrical equipment testing and protection settings.

Experience of electrical and mechanical power generation equipment.

Experience using engineering software such as MATLAB, SIMULINK and EPLAN is advantageous

Detailed knowledge of BS7671 installation and testing standards.

Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

A motivated team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines.
