About the role:
Our Garden Centre has recently benefited from significant investment, and we are now entering an exciting phase of growth. We are seeking an experienced Shop Manager to lead the next stage of its development, driving retail excellence, elevating customer experience, and maximising the opportunities within this vibrant and fast-evolving destination.
This role is ideal for a process-driven Retail Manager with energy, emotional intelligence, and the ability to inspire high-performing teams.
Salary range: £30,000 - £35,000
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the shop team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and excellent levels of service.
- Oversee daily shop operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Manage sales activities, optimise merchandising displays to very high levels of creativity and standard, and implement promotional strategies.
- Ensure excellent customer service by addressing enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Delegate tasks effectively, and monitor team productivity with a hands on approach.
- Maintain stock levels and oversee stock management.
- Implement health and safety standards within the store environment.
Our ideal candidate:
- 2 years management experience in an retail or garden centre environment.
- Strong leadership, communication skills and ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Excellent organisation and time management.
- Ability to prioritise under pressure.
- Experience in sales, customer service and inspirational merchandising.
- Confident with administration, scheduling, reporting and stock management.
- Horticultural knowledge is desirable.
Hours of work:
Role operates on a 2 week rota - 4 days one week and 6 days the following week.
- Monday - Thursday: 08.00 - 17.30
- Saturday: 08.00 - 17.30 every other week
- Sunday: 09.30 - 16.30 every other week
Closed Easter Sunday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, 27th December and New Year’s Day.
