Job Purpose:
We are looking for a motivated and detail‑driven Assistant Portfolio Manager to join our team and help deliver exceptional investment services to a diverse range of clients. This role plays a key part in supporting our Investment Managers and contributing to the high professional standards our clients expect.
You’ll work with individuals, families, trusts, corporates and charities, helping to manage portfolios in line with our strategic objectives and FCA regulations. What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting portfolio management across discretionary and advisory clients, tailoring activity to each client’s needs and agreed investment strategy.
- Reviewing client portfolios regularly to help ensure ongoing suitability of investments.
- Assisting with investment model implementation and maintenance, ensuring portfolios remain aligned.
- Taking prompt action on portfolios, including new fund deployment, capital raises, CGT reviews, ISA subscriptions and restructuring.
- Executing trades across equities, fixed income and alternatives, including rebalancing, bulk switches and centrally recommended trades.
- Passing execution‑only orders accurately and on time.
- Helping create investment proposals and schemes for new clients.
- Monitoring portfolio commonality with internal models and addressing any outliers.
- Producing clear investment rationales for transactions.
- Attending client calls and meetings, supporting with preparation, minute‑taking and follow‑up.
- Presenting market and portfolio updates to clients as your role develops.
- Ensuring all client communications are handled promptly and professionally.
- Staying informed on market developments and contributing insights to the team.
- Providing administrative cover when needed and supporting operational processes.
- Maintaining due‑diligence documentation for non‑preferred investment solutions.
- Ensuring valuations are produced and delivered within regulatory timescales.
- Representing the team and company at events and meetings.
- Continuously reviewing portfolios with a focus on Consumer Duty, client outcomes and TCF.
- Keeping up to date with the investment landscape to ensure actions remain in clients’ best interests.
- Identifying opportunities to introduce broader wealth management services.
- Upholding compliance standards and contributing to a strong compliance culture.
- Delegating and monitoring tasks for support staff.
- Supporting updates to procedures, including charging structures.
What You’ll Bring:
- RDR‑compliant with CISI Level 4 (minimum).
- Willingness to work towards CISI Level 7 to progress toward Portfolio Manager status (we welcome applicants already studying or ready to begin).
- Up‑to‑date SPS.
- Ideally, experience in investment or portfolio management within financial services.

- Confident using MS Office (especially Excel) and financial data systems.
