Bookkeeper & Admin Assistant (Sage)

Position: Part Time – 1 to 2 day per week (flexible)
Pay: £18 per hour
We are seeking an experienced part-time Bookkeeper with a good working knowledge of Sage to support our growing business.
This is a part-time role focused on managing the business accounts and payroll duties of a growing business. This role would suit someone looking for flexible part-time hours that could be either condensed into one or two days per week or spread over a few hours per day each week.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day finance function of a residential children’s homes business, working closely with the office team and managers (RM’s) of the children’s homes. You would be required to carry out payroll and reporting tasks at the end of each month.
- 1 to 2 days per week (flexible)
Bookkeeping Duties:
- Maintain accurate records within the accounting system (Sage).
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
- Filling of individual homes accounts and raising queries with the RM’s
- Allocation of homes funds on a monthly basis.
- Liaising with external accountants to ensure company year-end submissions are made on time.
- Investigate and follow up overdue accounts with customers.
- Manage employee fit notes, filling and accounting for staff absences within our accounting and filling systems.
- Process and verify employee expense claims including liaising with homes managers to ensure all expenses are filed on time.
- Filling monthly payroll reports to our filling systems.
- Receiving monthly timesheets from our homes managers and issuing payslips to all employees.
- Dealing with tax code changes and other amendments from HMRC.
- Ensuring timely payment of wages to staff.
- Payment of supplier invoices.
Bookkeeping Experience:
- AAT level 3 or equivalent qualification/relevant experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Sage.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
