Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Daytime Tutor specialising in SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) to provide personalised 1:1 support within a school or educational setting. The successful candidate will work closely with children requiring tailored educational assistance, fostering their development and ensuring they reach their full potential. Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised tutoring sessions to children with SEND, focusing on their individual learning needs.
- Implement tailored programmes that may include speech therapy, maths, early childhood education, and physical education activities.
- Support children with behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and social skills.
- Assist with developing communication skills through effective verbal and non-verbal techniques.
- Apply behaviour analysis techniques and mentoring strategies to support behavioural development.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and specialists to monitor progress and adapt learning plans accordingly.
- Provide a safe, nurturing environment that encourages confidence and independence in children.
- Proofread and prepare educational materials customised for each child's needs.
- Support children with Toddler care, preschool activities, and general childcare routines as required.
Skills
- Proven experience working with children, particularly within special education or early childhood settings.
- Knowledge of speech therapy techniques, applied behaviour analysis, and behaviour management strategies.
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with children, parents, and educational professionals.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs and behavioural challenges.
- Experience in tutoring subjects such as maths or physical education is desirable.
- Organised approach to planning lessons and tracking progress through detailed documentation.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate young learners with SEND.
- Skills in proofreading educational materials for clarity and appropriateness.
- Previous experience in childcare or preschool environments is advantageous.
