Job Summary
Kevin’s Coaches is looking for a reliable, professional and customer-focused PCV Coach Driver to join our team.
The role involves safely transporting passengers on a variety of coach journeys, including private hires, school transport, day trips, tours, group travel and contracted services throughout the UK and further afield.
As part of our tour and private hire work, drivers must be comfortable with staying away from home when required. Some duties may involve overnight stays of 3 days or more, depending on the tour or itinerary.
As one of our drivers, you will represent Kevin’s Coaches while providing passengers with a safe, comfortable and enjoyable journey.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their driving, maintains high standards of customer service and treats our vehicles with care.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate coaches and other PCV vehicles in accordance with road traffic laws, company procedures and Drivers’ Hours regulations.
- Transport passengers on UK and extended tours, private hires, school services, excursions, day trips, contracts and other coach work as required.
- Undertake multi-day tours and overnight trips, which may require staying away from home for 3 days or more at a time.
- Follow tour itineraries and work professionally with tour organisers, group leaders, hotels, attractions and customers.
- Provide a friendly, professional and helpful service to passengers throughout their journey.
- Assist passengers with boarding and leaving the vehicle and with luggage when appropriate.
- Carry out and record daily vehicle walk-around checks before starting work.
- Ensure the coach is safe, clean and presentable throughout the duration of a tour or hire.
- Report any defects, damage, incidents or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Follow planned routes, itineraries and schedules while adapting appropriately to traffic, road closures and other circumstances.
- Communicate effectively with the Kevin’s Coaches office, customers, passengers and tour organisers.
- Complete all required paperwork, tachograph records and driving records accurately.
- Take responsibility for the vehicle while on duty and help maintain the high standards expected across the Kevin’s Coaches fleet.
Requirements
- A full UK PCV driving licence (Category D).
- A valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC).
- A valid Digital Tachograph Card where required.
- Good knowledge of UK road traffic laws, Drivers’ Hours and PCV regulations.
- A safe, responsible and professional approach to driving.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work both independently and as part of the Kevin’s Coaches team.
- Must be willing and able to stay away from home for overnight and extended tours, including trips lasting 3 days or more.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and overnight trips depending on the requirements of the work.
- Ability to carry out vehicle safety checks and identify and report defects.
- Previous coach, touring or bus driving experience is preferred, although suitable applicants will be considered based on their experience and qualifications.

Applicants should be comfortable with the varied nature of coach work. One day may involve a local private hire or school journey, while another could involve a multi-day tour requiring several nights away from home.
