Aspire and Achieve is a specialist independent school in Leeds supporting young people aged 11–16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and moderate learning difficulties.
We are a small, nurturing setting where every young person is known, valued and supported. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who brings warmth, patience and a genuine belief in the potential of every young person.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the Headteacher and HLTA to support pupils in accessing learning, developing confidence and building the skills they need for life beyond school.
You will:
- Support pupils to access the curriculum, adapting approaches to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Work with individuals and small groups to provide targeted support and interventions.
- Prepare learning resources and support the delivery of planned sessions.
- Help pupils develop strategies to manage emotions, behaviour and social interactions.
- Build positive, trusting relationships based on empathy, consistency and respect.
- Provide a calm and supportive presence for young people who may find school challenging.
- Support pupils during arrival, breaks, transitions and other unstructured times.
- Encourage independence, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning.
- Monitor and share information about pupil engagement, progress and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively as part of a small, close-knit team.
- Contribute to the wider ethos and development of Aspire and Achieve.
