Buyer – Bradford (BD4)
We are one of the UK’s leading importers and distributors of home and furniture products, supplying customers through multiple online sales platforms. Due to our continued growth, we are expanding our purchasing department and are excited to offer an opportunity for a dedicated and proactive Buyer to join our team.

About the Role
The Buyer will support the purchasing function by managing supplier relationships, sourcing new products, negotiating pricing, and ensuring purchasing records and documentation are maintained accurately. This role requires strong organisational skills, commercial awareness, and attention to detail.
You will work closely with suppliers overseas and internal teams to ensure products meet market demand, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Source and develop new products for the assigned category/range, from initial concept and briefing through to sample approval and launch.
· Identify, evaluate and onboard new suppliers and manufacturers, negotiate pricing, terms and lead times.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, monitoring performance, quality and reliability.
· Collect, verify and maintain product compliance and safety documentation (e.g. test certificates, CE/UKCA marks, REACH), ensuring adherence to relevant legal and retailer requirements.
· Drive continuous improvements to existing products, working with suppliers to enhance quality, cost and sustainability.
· Manage stock availability and demand forecasting for the assigned range, working with suppliers and the Operations team to maintain optimal stock levels.
· Manage the critical path for new product launches, ensuring on-time delivery and coordinating with the E-commerce and Operations teams.
· Analyse sales performance, market trends and customer feedback to identify opportunities for range development and improvement.
· Manage costing and margin for the assigned range, negotiating with suppliers to support profitability targets.
· Work with suppliers to plan production timelines and liaise with freight forwarders and logistics partners to ensure timely shipment and delivery of goods.
· Effectively communicate any changes to products or the supply chain to internal teams to ensure appropriate planning.
· Support the Purchasing Manager with wider category and supplier strategy as required.
Skills & Experience
· Mandarin speaking ability would be beneficial
· Experience in a Buying/Purchasing role, ideally within a retail or e-commerce environment.
· Experience sourcing suppliers and developing new products (NPD).
· Knowledge of product compliance and safety regulations relevant to the category.
· Strong negotiation skills, with experience managing cost and margin.
· Proficient in Excel; experience with PLM/ERP or supplier management systems.
· Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
Working Hours
- 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (no weekends)
- 8-hour shifts with flexible start and finish times (to be agreed)
