Job Title: Kitchen Support Assistant

Hours: 35 hours full-time – rota-based work over a 7-day week

As a Kitchen Support Assistant, you play a vital role in nurturing our Residents' health, wellbeing, and dignity through food. Mealtimes are more than routines — they are moments of comfort, familiarity, and connection. Your work helps ensure Residents feel a true sense of belonging every day.
Your Responsibilities
Working alongside the Chef or Cook, you will:
- Assist with the preparation of nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet individual dietary needs
- Serve meals in a timely, friendly, and respectful manner, supporting positive and enjoyable dining experiences
- Carry out all wash-up duties, including cleaning dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment, ensuring items are stored correctly after use
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, wash-up areas, equipment, and work surfaces
- Ensure the kitchen remains clean and organised at all times, including after busy service periods
- Monitor and accurately record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, and other storage areas)
- Support correct stock rotation and safe storage of all ingredients
- Show and guide new team members in the safe use of kitchen and wash-up equipment.
Through your actions, you will be doing what matters most — supporting Residents’ comfort, safety, and wellbeing, while always maintaining their dignity.
Additional Duties: The post holder will undertake any other duties reasonably required, consistent with the seniority and responsibilities of the role, and will support Turner Home’s values, policies and commitment to high-quality, compassionate care.
Safeguarding: The post holder is responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults using the service, in line with organizational policies, statutory requirements and CQC standards. Any safeguarding concerns must be recognised and reported promptly through appropriate channels.
DBS This post is subject to an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Appointment is conditional upon a satisfactory disclosure.
About You: We are looking for someone with some kitchen or catering experience and a genuine passion for helping others.
You will also bring:

- The ability to follow instructions, recipes, and complete records accurately
- A dependable and flexible approach, including willingness to support wash-up and cleaning duties
- A naturally nurturing manner, showing patience, respect, and kindness in every interaction
