Implementation Consultant
Monday to Friday: 9 to 5:30
Home-based with regular travel to the Godalming Office and UK customer sites
WHO WE ARE
Whitespace is the operational platform for waste, recycling and environmental services across the UK.
Trusted by over 130 local authorities and the UK’s leading contractors, our software connects everything from in-cab devices and route management to resident requests, reporting and analytics.
With 98% customer retention over 13 years, Whitespace remains the trusted choice for essential public services.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Implementation Consultant to join our growing Professional Services
Team.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role responsible for the technical delivery of our software implementations.
You'll configure customer solutions, prepare and validate data, support testing, deliver user training, and produce
implementation documentation to ensure successful customer deployments.
On larger implementations, you'll work alongside an Implementation Project Manager, taking ownership of the technical
delivery while they lead the overall project. On smaller implementations and customer changes, you'll manage the work
independently from initial requirements through to delivery.
Throughout every implementation, you'll work closely with customers—from operational users to service managers—to
help them understand and adopt the Whitespace solution.
You'll receive structured mentoring and on-the-job training, offering opportunities to develop your implementation,
consulting and project delivery skills as you progress in the role.
This position reports to the Head of Professional Services.
THIS ROLE IS IDEAL FOR
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work with software configuration, data, testing and customer training, rather than leading the overall delivery of implementation projects.
You'll have experience in software implementation, application support, project coordination, customer onboarding, or
a similar customer-facing technical role, and be looking to build your implementation expertise within a collaborative
Professional Services team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Your duties will vary from day to day. As an Implementation Consultant, you will support the successful delivery of
implementations by owning all technical configuration and data activities. On full implementations, you will also

implementations, you will handle your own project governance duties.
Your responsibilities will include:
Requirements & Documentation
- Participate in customer requirements workshops, advising on product capabilities and best-practice
implementation.
- Analyse customer data and business processes, and recommend solutions that align with Whitespace best
practice.
- Produce configuration records, implementation documentation and technical inputs for project documentation.
- Maintain templates, documentation, and configuration materials.
Configuration & Technical Delivery
- Configure customer solutions in line with agreed designs and implementation best practice
- Prepare, import and validate customer data, performing integrity checks before deployment.
- Perform configuration testing and post-change verification.
Testing & Training
- Complete UAT preparation: set up data, environments, and test scenarios.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and help resolve configuration issues identified in testing.
- Deliver customer training on Whitespace system functionality.
Project Delivery
- Provide progress updates to the Implementation Project Manager for planning and reporting.
- Flag risks, technical issues, and dependencies early.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Professional Services team and support wider
implementation activities as needed.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Previous experience in software implementation, project coordination, business systems, application support,
or a similar customer-facing technical environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for data-driven tasks.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with confidence in using Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new software
applications.
- Initiative, curiosity and a practical approach to problem-solving, with a willingness to build implementation
expertise.
- Flexibility to drive to customer sites and Godalming Head Office, as and when required.
WHAT WILL SET YOU APART
- Experience of the public sector, waste management, environmental services, or other operational software
environments would be an advantage.
- An interest in the technology world and a deeper understanding of technologies such as SQL databases, AI for
task automation, and advanced BI.
