Purpose of the role:
Ensure the supply of clean laundry throughout the home.
Ensure a clean, safe environment for all residents, visitors & staff.
Main responsibilities (laundry):
- To wash and distribute an adequate supply of laundered linen for the home.
- Washing and ironing linen/residents clothing.
- Conduct simple repairs on items of clothing (sewing).
- Sewing on name tapes onto residents clothing so clothes are easily identifiable and not lost.
- To follow Health and Safety procedures when dealing with the disposal of waste, and in laundering throughout the home.
- Attending staff meetings and training sessions when required (some face-to-face training & also online training)
- Record any breakages or defects to handyperson.
- Follow Infection Prevention and Control Measures.
- Ensuring cleanliness of laundry area and enhanced cleaning schedules are completed regularly throughout the shift.
- To be directly responsible to senior carers and management.
Main Responsibilities (domestic)
- To clean all allocated rooms including furniture, fittings, fabric, carpets and equipment.
- To be aware of the health and safety policies and of the COSHH statement.
- To clean sanitary and other equipment, with particular attention to guidelines for the infection control.
- To have good understanding and awareness if National Infection Prevention and Control Manual
- To deal with / segregate waste bags and their prescribed disposal.
- To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required.
- To use PPE in accordance to policy & procedure;
