About the job
Are you an experienced finance professional ready to take the next step into a key leadership role within a growing group of companies?
Cashel Group of Companies is looking for a Group Finance Manager to take day to day ownership of our Group finance function, working closely with and reporting directly to the Group Finance Director.
This is a hands on, commercially focused role with a real opportunity to make an impact. You’ll lead the operational finance function, manage and develop the finance team, strengthen our financial controls and reporting, and help us build a finance function capable of supporting the next stage of the Group’s growth.
About us:
Cashel Group operates across the UK inbound travel and Destination Management sector, with five Group companies across the UK and Ireland.
With current Group turnover of approximately £17m+ and an ambition to continue to grow over the next five years, we are bringing our finance operations together into a stronger, more integrated Group function with common processes, clearer accountability and greater collaboration across the businesses. It’s an exciting time to join us and play an important part in shaping how our finance function develops.
The role
As Group Finance Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day to day management of Group finance, including:
- Taking ownership of the monthly close and management accounts across the Group
- Preparing Group reporting, consolidations, cashflow reporting and variance analysis
- Managing cashflow, working capital and credit control, including rolling cashflow forecasting
- Strengthening balance sheet control, reconciliations and financial disciplines
- Leading, supporting and developing the Group finance team
- Improving and standardising finance processes across our businesses
- Identifying opportunities for automation and more efficient ways of working
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning
- Providing useful financial insight to operational management and the Group Finance Director
- Analysing margins, profitability and cost trends to support commercial decisions
- Supporting the financial complexities of an international travel business, including multi-currency transactions, overseas customers and suppliers, deposits and seasonal cashflow
This is not a role where you will simply produce the numbers. We want someone who can understand what sits behind them, identify issues and opportunities, and help the wider business make better decisions.
About you
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical finance skills with practical, hands-on leadership.
You’ll ideally be:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified or we may consider part-qualified with strong relevant experience
- Experienced in preparing management accounts and managing month end processes
- Confident managing or supervising finance team members
- Strong on balance sheet control, cashflow and working capital
- Comfortable working across multiple companies, priorities and deadlines
- Highly capable with Excel and accounting systems
- Commercially minded and able to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
- Someone who enjoys improving processes rather than simply maintaining them
- Organised, approachable and willing to get into the detail when needed
Experience within travel, tourism, hospitality or another high-volume service business would be particularly useful, as would experience of multi-company or multi-currency accounting, UK VAT/TOMS and finance systems or process improvement.
Why join us?
This is a newly defined role with the opportunity to have genuine influence over how our Group finance function operates.
You’ll work closely with the Group Finance Director and become a key point of leadership within finance, with the autonomy to improve processes, develop the team and strengthen the financial information we use to run the business.
For the right person, there is also genuine career progression. As Cashel Group grows, we see scope for this position to develop towards a broader Head of Finance or Financial Controller remit in the future.
If you’re a finance professional looking for more ownership, broader commercial exposure and the opportunity to help shape a growing finance function, we’d love to hear from you.
