Warehouse Back up cleaning Operatives (Industrial / Warehouse Environment)
Location: Sysco Hemel Hempstead Distribution Centre
Pay Rate: £15.00 per hour
(£12.71 base rate + £2.29 warehouse/role and performance allowance)
Hours: Part-time | 24 hours per week | 24/6 operation
About the Role
Capitol Cleaning & Support Services are recruiting Backup cleaners to support a large, modern distribution centre in Hemel Hempstead.
This is an industrial-style cleaning role, working within a live warehouse environment operating 24 hours a day. The role is physically active and involves the use of professional cleaning machinery to maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and presentation across warehouse and welfare areas.
You will be expected to work as part of a designated team consisting of a Hygiene Supervisor and Hygiene Operatives. Due to the nature of warehouse operations, flexibility in working hours and shift patterns is essential,
We are currently recruiting for a Warehouse backup cleaners, that will be covering Holidays, sick leave and any other type of leave as and when needed
Due to the nature of this role, flexibility is essential, as you will be required to work across various shift patterns. You will be notified of your specific schedule in advance. The standard operational shifts are as follows:
This is a backup cleaning role, you will be rotating shifts which means switching between different shifts:
- Morning Shift
- Afternoon Shift
- Night Shift
The standard operational shift patterns are:
08:00 – 17:00
16:00 – 01:00
00:00 – 09:00
Key Responsibilities
- Industrial cleaning of warehouse floors, walkways, marshalling areas, loading bays, and pick zones
- Operation of industrial ride-on and walk-behind floor cleaning machines (training provided)
- Manual sweeping, mopping, and spill response
- Cleaning and sanitising high-touch points and shared equipment
- Cleaning warehouse welfare areas including toilets, changing rooms, and break areas
- Waste removal and recycling management
- Working safely around MHE and warehouse operations
- Following strict health & safety and hygiene procedures

- Wet vacs and spill kits
- MEWP access platforms (e.g. scissor lifts) for approved tasks
