The Café Bar Assistant Role
You’ll report to the Cafe Bar Manager. You’ll also work closely with the rest of your team and frequent collaborators.
This post is responsible for providing exceptional customer service in our new café and bar on shift. This role is a This is a hands-on role, located within Edinburgh Playhouse. The Café Bar assistant role is directly line managed by the Café Bar Manager.
Little Picardy
Little Picardy takes a modern and sophisticated approach on informal dining, as well as being the perfect place for pre and post-show bites and drinks. Little Picardy is a standalone venue, however, there will be an element of integration, providing access for Playhouse theatre audiences. Visitors can expect a premium, warm and welcoming experience that is a unique safe haven in the heart of the city.
Key responsibilities
- Becoming a brand ambassador for Little Picardy.
- Having a sound knowledge of food and beverage products and offering recommendations.
- Making great coffee and premium cocktails.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of Edinburgh Playhouse as a venue, including current and upcoming shows.
- Ensuring the customer is at the centre of everything we do, providing an exceptional customer experience for all guests.
- Managing stock effectively ensuring minimal waste.
- Know and understand our sales targets and work to exceed them.
- Adhere to company policy on all associated operating procedures.
- Working with internal colleagues to coordinate pre-and post-show events.
- Reporting housekeeping and maintenance issues to the relevant personnel.
- Undertaking any other duties assigned by the Café Bar Manager.

- Level 2 Award in Food Allergen Awareness and Control in Catering (desirable or willing to work towards)
- Level 2 Award in HACCP for Catering (desirable or willing to work towards)
