Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Editor to join our team. As an Editor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and quality of our written content. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in journalism and possess excellent communication and editing skills.
Duties:
- attending and reporting on news events and council meetings, gathering and sourcing news, following up stories, writing articles
- producing good quality and accurate work for magazines, web and social media content
- good knowledge of social media
- editing, proofreading and photography skills
- setting up magazine templates
- answering the telephone and dealing with enquiries
- liaising with other departments and clients
- checking and dealing with emails
- interviewing, writing advertorials and undertaking reviews
- checking magazines before they go to print
- sourcing competitions and administering them
Experience:
- Have a good knowledge of English
- Be highly organised and able to meet regular deadlines
- Good reporting and interview technique
- Knowledge of media production
- Be thorough and pay attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well with others at all levels
- Be flexible and open to change
- Computer literate and understand main software packages
- Quick thinking and able to report on events as they unfold
- Dedicated to covering local news stories and events
- Ability to work under pressure of deadlines
- NCTJ qualification or equivalent required
- A full, clean driving licence is essential
- A car is necessary and mileage allowance will be given

Working hours: The hours are Mon-Thurs 9am-4.30pm and Fri 9am-4pm, however, we envisage the Friday to be a flexible day, as we will need someone who can cover events on weekends and evenings.
