The Role
As a Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of innovative projects within our Advanced Weapons Integrated Delivery Team, supporting the development of novel weapon technologies and laser source capabilities that help shape the future of defence.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead projects across the Laser Directed Energy Weapons (LDEW) Portfolio, working closely with engineering, operations, customers, suppliers and partners to ensure successful delivery against customer requirements, budgets and schedules.
Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering project outcomes to agreed customer, time, cost and quality baselines
Developing and maintaining positive engagement with customers, suppliers, partners and internal stakeholders
Partnering with Operations and Engineering teams to ensure efficient and effective project delivery
Applying appropriate project governance, lifecycle and review processes in line with the QinetiQ Operating Framework
Managing project resource requirements and supporting revenue and margin objectives
Reporting project progress, risks and performance to Programme leadership
Essential experience of the Project Manager:
Experience delivering projects for external customers within a complex technical environment
Experience working within Defence or another regulated industry
Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
Knowledge of project governance, project lifecycle management and project controls
Strong communication, negotiation and conflict management capabilities
Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver successful project outcomes
Essential qualifications for the Project Manager:
Project Management qualification from a recognised professional association such as APM or IPMA
Relevant degree, HNC/HND or equivalent professional experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough or Malvern site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.

These facilities enable QinetiQ to conduct a wide range of research, testing and development activities that support both military and civilian applications helping to advance technology and support national security.
