Pianists & Musicians
Great musicianship matters. But so does what you do with it.
CentreStage is looking for talented and adaptable pianists and musicians to join our creative team in Kilmarnock.
Every week, thousands of people of different ages, backgrounds, experiences and abilities come through our doors. Some come to perform. Some come to learn. Some come to make friends, rediscover confidence or try something they never imagined they could do.
Music is one of the ways we bring people together — and we're looking for musicians who understand the difference the right accompaniment, encouragement and instinct can make.
The role
Working alongside our Creative Team, you could:
- accompany choirs, singing groups, musical theatre companies and other creative activities
- support rehearsals, projects, performances and showcases
- work with children, young people and adults of all ages and abilities
- move comfortably between musical theatre, pop, contemporary, classical and other repertoire
- work from sheet music, lead sheets and chord charts, and improvise when appropriate
- respond instinctively to the people in the room — knowing when to lead, when to follow and when to simply help someone feel confident enough to have a go
- contribute to the welcoming, inclusive and joyful environment that makes CentreStage distinctive.
We're looking for people who:
- are accomplished, confident musicians, with strong accompanying skills
- can read music and/or play confidently from lead sheets and chord charts
- are flexible and able to respond quickly in a busy creative environment
- enjoy collaborating with other musicians, tutors and creative practitioners
- are reliable, prepared and generous team players
- genuinely enjoy working with people.
Experience accompanying singers, choirs, musical theatre or dance is welcome, as is experience within community arts or working with children and young people — but we're also interested in musicians from different backgrounds who feel an affinity with the way we work.
Above all, we're looking for kind, curious people who happen to be great musicians.
What you'll find at CentreStage
You'll become part of a creative community where music and the arts aren't simply about producing great performances. They're about bringing people together, breaking down barriers, developing strengths and unlocking potential.
We offer:
- a warm, supportive and highly creative working environment
- varied sessional opportunities across our activities and productions
- competitive sessional rates, dependent on experience
- opportunities for ongoing work
- the chance to use your musicianship to make a genuine difference in people's lives.
