£180 – £230 per day
An established specialist SEN school in the London Borough of Sutton is seeking a committed and experienced Post-16 SEND Teacher to join their team from September 2026, full time ongoing basis.
This role offers the chance to play a vital part in preparing young people aged 16–19 for adulthood. You will support learners with complex needs to develop independence, functional academic skills, communication, and confidence within a structured and nurturing setting.
The school supports pupils aged 3–19 and caters for a broad range of needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Complex medical and communication needs
- Social, emotional and behavioral needs
The Post-16 department places strong emphasis on preparation for adulthood, life skills, employability pathways, and personalized learning programmes aligned to EHCP outcomes.
As the Post-16 SEND Teacher, you will:
- Take responsibility for a class of learners with complex needs
- Design and deliver engaging, highly differentiated lessons
- Adapt learning to meet individual EHCP targets
- Establish consistent routines and implement positive behavior strategies
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and multidisciplinary teams
- Track progress, complete assessments, and contribute to annual reviews
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- QTS or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Post-16 students with SEND
- A strong understanding of EHCP-led planning and personalized provision
- Experience supporting learners with ASD, PMLD, and complex needs
- Resilience, patience, and a proactive mindset
