Who are we?
National Merchandise, a division of the Nottingham Ice Centre Limited, work in some of the UK’s biggest venues; including the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham, Sheffield Utilita Arena, The O2 London, AO Manchester, OVO Hydro Glasgow, M&S Bank Liverpool, 3 Arena Dublin, and SSE Arena Belfast to name a few.
From January 23rd, 2025, we welcomed National Merchandise (Sweden) AB to the family, working in the Strawberry Arena (previously the Friends Arena), Tele2 Arena, Hovet Arena, Avicii Arena and the Annexet.
No event is too large or too small for National Merchandise!
In addition to the work we do in venues we also work with some of the biggest non-venue and festival organisers in the world bringing merchandise to music and entertainment fans at events that include Download, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Isle of Wight, British Summer Time, Glastonbury, Camp Bestival, Electric Picnic, Leeds & Reading festivals and many more.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our retail merchandise team in Sheffield, working on a casual event driven basis, you will provide top class customer retail service to support the tour merchandise sales for some of the world’s most renowned artists. The role involves ensuring our high standards of service are maintained and providing a welcoming environment for all clients and visitors to our venues.
Customer service is at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for team players that can make a positive contribution to the overall customer experience. If you take pride in your work, have a positive friendly attitude, and possess excellent communication skills we want to hear from you.
A typical day in the life of event merchandising would see you count in a quantity of merchandise from our clients and partners visiting our venues, assist creating visual displays for customers and upon doors opening sell the stock at set prices to the general public. At the end of the night you will be counting back and boxing the stock to clients for them to continue onwards with the tour, and making our stations ready for our next event.
As a merchandise assistant you would be regularly available for most/all of the planned merchandise sales events on the arena calendar schedule, with approximate start/end times normally being from 17:00-00:30. You would be selling merchandise in a busy environment to the public on stalls, escalating any customer queries/complaints to your stand supervisor. You will be able to remain calm under busy sales periods and undertake mental maths at point of sale accurately.
It is important to us that you are able to fulfil the full shift time and also get home after your events safely, late finishes are expected for these roles; so driving is beneficial, but not essential.
Skills & Competencies required:
- Strong numerical skills and mental arithmetic.
- Accuracy and ability to be calm under pressure.
- Well presented.
- Customer service experience and retail experience.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and pick up new skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Be able to work with and adapt to people working from a wide variety of ages & backgrounds
- Follow health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Be able to deal with customer queries & complaints in a professional manner.
- Be able to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
Our Merchandise Assistants receive National Minimum Wage & in addition you will also receive + 12.07% holiday pay for every hour worked. There are multiple company benefits, including the option to apply for free concert tickets in our home Nottingham Arena where available.
